Ancient Art History: A Journey Through Early Civilizations
Dates: Friday, January 8- April 23, 2027
Westfield Washington Public Library - WWPL
Time: 12:30-2PM
Welcome to an exciting art history class that will take you on a journey across the globe through the lens of ancient art. The Academy of Chaos has created a history course that meets on Thursday afternoons where Mrs. Lee will use the Story of the World Vol. 1: Ancient Times.
Our art history sessions (Artmakery Studio) will complement the Thursday classes but take place on Friday afternoons for 15-weeks. Each class is 1 ½ hours long and promises a hands-on experience with various artistic projects. We will not meet one week in March.
Course Overview
The art history class will explore the rich tapestry of early civilizations, from the earliest nomadic tribes to the fall of the Roman Empire. Unlike traditional courses that focus primarily on Europe, our curriculum spans a variety of regions and modern-day countries, providing a comprehensive understanding of ancient art across the world. Every week, parents will receive an overview of our activities to stay informed about what their children are learning and creating.
Curriculum Highlights will include
- Middle East
- Africa
- Asia
- Europe
- The Americas
Class Format
Each session will be interactive and engaging, encouraging students to create their own art inspired by the ancient civilizations they study. This hands-on approach not only solidifies their learning but also fosters creativity and individual expression.
Join us for this exciting journey through ancient art history and witness the world as it was thousands of years ago.
